50 YEARS OF NIKE
The iconic brand that always drops heat.

“Just Do It”, you already know wus’ good. The brand started in 1972 with Phil Knight, a runner and his coach Bill Bowerman on an Oregon running track.

From selling shoes from the trunk of a car to the top of the sports and lifestyle charts, let’s take a look at 50 years of Nike greatness.

Where it was…

The duo created their first signature shoe while eating Waffles for breakfast (hopefully with syrup) and turning that shoe into a staple, known today as the ‘Waffle One’ (It’s drippy, but no syrup). We like to think that’s where ‘creps’ came from.

50 years of innovation and creativity is what brought G.O.A.T.’s like Michael Jordan into the Nike family. The basketball shoe-game switched-up with MJ’s first signature sneaker, the “Jordan 1” with a unique silhouette and sick colorways. 23’s will to win makes it their most famous sneaker line and created the Jordan Brand (Jumpan, Jumpman, Jumpman)

Where it is…

Today, Nike sponsors hundreds of elite athletes including Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James and Serena Williams in their vision where everyone is an athlete – united in the joy of movement. Big sponsorship deals with brands like the NFL and NBA have put Nike on the top.

The “Swoosh” is not only known in the sports world anymore but is also a collectable item & lifestyle brand which created a culture for us – the sneakerheads. Off-White by Virgil Abloh (R.I.P.), Travis Scott 1’s and Jordan x Dior places them on the fashion map.

Where it’s going…

Nike’s “MOVE TO ZERO” carbon and waste mission to protect the future of sports and lifestyle has been a major key (shout out DJ Khaled) in their pledge to sustainability. The ‘Space Hippie’ made from 50% recycled materials, inspired by life on Mars shows that sustainable practices can meet radical design.

We all know Nike isn’t going anywhere and we’re all probably going to be here when it turns 100, still rocking our fresh Air Force 1’s or self-lacing kicks or probably some “how do you even think of this” tech that will change the sneaker game. AGAIN.

Through Nike’s 50-year history of creativity, evolution and innovation, one thing is for sure; Nike and us got one mantra in common – WE ARE NEVER DONE.
